What would you like to know about UK Moves?

Do you move companies in the evening or at the weekend?

Yes, many of our relocations happen after-hours, either evenings or weekends. We can discuss your requirements and options with you, and provide cost options for each alternative.


Is it more expensive to move out of hours?

Not necessarily, it’s best to discuss your options with our team. We do charge more for our staff for working out of hours, but the efficiency of not competing for loading space and lifts as well as less traffic can help to keep the cost down. Saturday moves have fewer restrictions typically making that the most efficient day to move.


Do you move PCs?

Yes, in fact, our team not only moves them, we also help many of our customers with disconnecting and reconnecting the PCs, allowing our clients’ IT staff to concentrate on the overall system.


Can you move our data centre/ Server room?

Yes, we plan the relocation of this time sensitive equipment to minimize downtime. Frequently, we provide a special crew and an allocated vehicle to complete the movement of this delicate equipment both efficiently and safely. We can also provide assistance for de-racking and re-racking the equipment if you need us to.


Can you handle flat screen monitors safely?

Yes, we use antistatic bubble wrap to protect the monitors, or if you prefer, we can use protective covers that we place over the monitors during the move.


This is my first move; how can you help me plan?

We will assign an experienced team member to work with you and your staff throughout the planning and operations stages of the project. In meetings prior to the actual move, our team will help plan all aspects of the project in detail and guide you and your colleagues through the process and everyone’s responsibilities. 


What is your estimating process?

We first have one of our team visit your space to determine your needs. We then prepare a comprehensive proposal detailing what we will do, when we will do it, and how much it will cost. We can provide various cost options for you to consider. Our team member will present the proposal to you and answer any questions. Once you have determined we are your best choice, the Account Manager will assemble a Project Management Team based on your needs, to solidify the planning and delivery of the relocation.

How do you handle last minute changes?

The moving process is fluid and change is inevitable. Our move plans and quotes are flexible up to the week before your move. Even on the day of your move, unforeseen changes can happen, and we will work with you to find solutions. Our ability to deal with change is determined by our high level of flexibility; The experience of our Move Team, and our strength of resources, allows us to respond to challenges both quickly and efficiently with a minimum of disruption to the move schedule.


Can you move our existing furniture?

Yes, our trained personnel can complete the dismantling and reassembly of all makes of systems furniture. 


We are buying new furniture for our new office, what can we do with the existing furniture?

There are options available: You can store it in one of our warehouses; We can introduce a furniture dealer to see if any items have a resale potential; We can donate it to a charity of your choice; We can break it down into component parts and recycle it. Currently only approximately 3-5% ends up in landfill, and only then because that material is not currently recyclable in the UK.


We have old IT equipment and electronics that we no longer need. What can we do with them?

We can recycle this under the WEEE regulations (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Any hard drives are wiped and can be destroyed if required, with ‘Proof of Destruction’ certificates. Everything else is reused or recycled.


We have classified material to move, how do you deal with moving secure files?

Working with your security staff, our Move Team establishes a schedule to move classified material meeting even the most stringent requirements. Normally, “line of sight” monitoring of the move, together with your personnel accompanying the sealed, locked trucks, is arranged. Additionally we can secure the crates with tamper evident numbered seals, and we can track the secured crates out of the old building and into the new.


How do you get the furniture in the right place in the new space?

All destinations within your new space need to be given a unique identifying number. Everything moving has a label with the corresponding identifying number written clearly on it.


Do I need to manage a move consultant to manage the move?

No, our Project Management Team is experienced handling moves from beginning to end. But if you need an experienced person to help with space planning, furniture purchases, phone purchases, etc., then a relocation consultant could be invaluable, and we can recommend great people to help you with this.


Do you provide crates?

Yes, we have a range of reusable crates available, depending on what you need to move.


Can you help us pack/ unpack our offices?

Absolutely, we can assist with all your packing needs. We will fully discuss packing, explaining your responsibility, our responsibilities, and the materials, equipment and procedures involved. We also outline our labelling system: discussing color-coding, layout drawings, directional placards, preparing sensitive or fragile items for shipment, and identifying personal property. Written packing and labelling instructions are provided to aid verbal explanation.


Do you have insurance?

Yes. Our people and vehicles along with your buildings and belongings are protected by our policies, normally for no additional charge, although high value items may require an extension to our regular coverage. 


Do you have a storage facility?

Yes, we offer containerised and open floor space storage for furniture and boxes/ crates. We also use specialist document storage facilities for long term document storage as well as air-conditioned / secure storage for art/ high value items. 


Will you talk to building management about the move?

Yes, we will help coordinate your project and arrange for access to loading docks, lifts, entrances and exits and provide them with risk assessments if required.


How will you protect our furniture and the new office?

We use a mixture of materials to protect the vulnerable areas of your building, equipment and furniture: hardboard, correx, corrugated cardboard, furniture blankets, anti-static bubble wrap, acid free packing paper, custom made packing cases. We can provide whatever protection your move requires.


Do you accept credit cards?

No, sorry. Invoices should be paid via bank transfer please.
